53 prominent Hindu organization pass resolution supporting Nithyananda

Madurai, 20 May 2012: H.H. Paramahamsa Nithyananda and his predecessor, the 292nd pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam, Srila Sri Arunagirinatha Sri Jnanasambanda Desika Paramacharya Swamigal, today jointly addressed a press meet to counter allegations by some groups that the coronation of Paramahamsa Nithyananda as the 293rd pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam had met with opposition among all Hindu organizations.
In a major show of support, 53 prominent Hindu organizations participated in the press meet, welcoming the coronation and pledging their support to Paramahamsa Nithyananda and Madurai Aadheenam.

Paramahamsa Nithyananda opened the Press Meet by welcoming the 53 Hindu organizations participating. He announced that Sri Ashok Singhal, International VHP President, has graciously agreed to be the Honorary President of the Madurai Aadheenam Protection committee. The committee had earlier passed a declaration supporting Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s Coronation as a visionary leader for a Hindu Renaissance. The declaration was read out for the benefit of the media.

Kanchi Seer sends representative for talks

Earlier today, Paramahamsa Nithyananda had held a private meeting with the manager of the Kanchi Sankaracharya mutt who had arrived at Madurai Aadheenam. Terming the meeting as satisfactory, Nithyananda said that a press meet regarding this would be held shortly.

‘Dharmic forgery’ by opposing organizations Referring to the reports in certain media that the 232nd pontiff of the ancient Thondaimandala Aadheenam of Kanchipuram had also signed the resolution protesting against the coronation, Paramahamsa Nithyananda revealed the shocking truth that nothing of the sort had in fact happened. This was reiterated by the Thondaimandala Aadheenam pontiff’s own brother who was present at the press meet, who declared that Thondaimandala Aadheenam had neither signed the resolution passed against Nithyananda, nor had they given any statement against him. Nithyananda observed that including the name of the revered pontiff without his knowledge, and signing the resolution on his behalf, was not only an unethical act but amounted to dharmic forgery.

Elaborating on his plans for the future expansion of Madurai Aadheenam, Paramahamsa Nithyananda reiterated that the media should encourage RTI (Right to Information Act) so that all organizations maintain transparency in operations. Nithyananda has voluntarily offered to bring his organizations under RTI.

The legendary Madurai Aadheenam has existed since time immemorial. However, it was revived around 1500 years ago by the young enlightened incarnation Tirujnana Sambandar, one of the four visionary saints of South Indian Shaiva Siddhanta philosophy. The Aadheenam is established in Madurai, one of the oldest cities of India with a history dating all the way back to Tamil Sangam period in the 3rd century BC. The presiding deities of Madurai are Shiva and Devi in their incarnations as Sundareshwara and Meenakshi, enshrined in the world-famous Madurai Meenakshi-Sundareshwara temple.
Until the year 1945, the Madurai Meenakshi temple and the Rameshwaram temple were under the control, management and administration of this mutt. Thereafter, it was taken up by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
The pontiff of the Madurai Aadheenam is known by the title ‘Guru Maha Sannidhanam’ and inherits great responsibility in carrying forward the traditions of Tirujnana Sambandar’s sacred work. There is no tenure for this position and it is a lifetime honor.
