‘Spiritual Power can conquer all obstacles’ – H.H Paramahamsa Nithyananda

Madurai, 12 May 2012: The world may be wondering why there is opposition by some groups to His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s appointment as 293rd pontiff of the world’s most ancient living Hindu organization. Madurai Aadheenam. It is essential to know the impartial facts to ascertain the actual credibility of the opposition’s arguments.
The current head of Madurai Aadheenam is the 292nd pontiff Sri Arunagirinatha Jnanasambanda Desika Paramacharya. He has recently appointed His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, revered by millions as a living Incarnation, as his successor and 293rd pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam. The decision is based on Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s meritorious achievements in raising and transforming the consciousness of millions of people around the world in less than ten years.

Press Meet: In today’s press meet at Madurai, the 292nd and 293rd pontiffs answered questions related to the opposition created by a self-appointed group calling themselves Madurai Aadheenam Retrieval Committee.

The press reporters started with questions about the group’s statement which had indicated that they would enter the Madurai Aadheenam to perform a traditional prayer ritual and surround the place protesting the appointment of the 293rd pontiff. To this the 292nd pontiff answered that they would be trespassing into the private space which is absolutely under his jurisdiction and their action would be illegal. He further stated that such actions by negative elements are an attempt to instigate unnecessary violence, and any untoward incidents caused by such actions will be attributed to those groups who have been instigating the violence. If they want to voice their opinion about his decision to appoint the 293rd pontiff, they should do it by taking recourse to law. Both the pontiffs informed the press that they have sought protection from these rowdy elements who are instigating violence in the name of protest.

The press had a question about why the group members were not allowed to perform pooja (worship) inside the Madurai Aadheenam. To this the 292nd Guru Maha Sannidhanam replied that the personal prayer space of the Madurai Aadheenam is not a public temple like the Meenakshi temple or any other temple. People can enter this space only with the permission of Guru Maha Sannidhanam and not by violating the wishes of the property owners. The 292nd Guru Mahasannidhanam dismissed as totally false and ridiculous, the allegations that he was being kept under imprisonment by His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda.

His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda stated that even though he has won the case legally, there were continued protests from these opposing groups which were trying to disrupt law and order in society. He challenged them to appeal to the court if they were unhappy with the judgment and face the law, instead of resorting to violence.

Both the pontiffs expressed their frustration over the time and energy being wasted over such ridiculous and frivolous claims of the opposing committees. They stated that instead of spending their energy on building a better society with spiritual strength and a foundation of non-violence, such groups were resorting to actions which were detrimental to society. They felt that the time being wasted on press meets could be far better spent in carrying forward the plans for the revival of the rich Vedic culture.

The newly appointed 293rd pontiff, His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, gave an open challenge to the committee members who were questioning his intellectual, moral and spiritual authority to head the ancient Saivite Mutt. He challenged them to follow the precedent of the child saint Thiru Jnanasambandar and prove their spiritual strength by healing any paralytic patient on one side of the body, while he healed the patient on the other side, using nothing but his healing energy. He also challenged them to have an open debate with him about any of the Shaiva scriptures.

He said, “Instead of violence, let us have creative competitions to see how many schools, colleges and hospitals each one can establish, how many spiritual discourses we can deliver, how many books we can author, how many people we can heal and transform”.

He advised them to refrain from using violence and cheap means to harass him by making abusive statements about his personal appearance, spreading rumors about his character and creating false stories about his imprisoning the 292nd pontiff, violating the private property and premises of the administrative offices and the religious space of the Madurai Aadheenam.

His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda further pointed to the number of highly educated, intelligent youngsters among his devotees who have dedicated their lives to the spiritual growth and service of society, motivated purely by the integrity and truth they had seen in him. He revealed that 600 volunteers from over 10 countries had arrived in Madurai to support and work for the revival of Madurai Aadheenam and the Vedic culture. They were motivated solely by their devotion to him and the inspiration they experienced through his teachings and his worldwide spiritual mission. Many of these volunteers are cooking for the newly started free meal program several are cleaning and re-painting the buildings, while others are building comprehensive websites for sharing the true knowledge about Shaivism, meditation and Vedic tradition to help the conscious evolution of humanity.

About Madurai Aadheenam

Madurai Aadheenam is the oldest and most ancient spiritual organization founded by Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati , worshipped as Lord Sundareshwara and Goddess Meenakshi in the Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai. Meenakshi was a Divine incarnation who assumed the body as a Pandiyan queen and ruled Madurai, and conquered many parts of the world by spreading the supreme truths of the Vedic science and culture.
More than 1500 years ago, Madurai Aadheenam was revived by the famous incarnation and child saint Tiru Jnanasambandar of the Chola Empire in Madurai. The child saint, was a great devotee of Lord Shiva and the Vedic culture and tradition. The then Pandiyan Queen Mangayarkarasi of Madurai, who was deeply concerned by the exploitation of the kingdom by a few corrupt monks, invited Tiru Jnanasambandar to the Pandiyan kingdom, to heal the king of severe ailments including a hunched back.
This invitation caused great disturbance and turmoil among the monks who were influencing the king, using philosophy to hide their lack of any true spiritual experience. However, amidst much opposition, the child saint Tiru Jnanasambandar arrived in Madurai, and challenged the monks to heal one side of the ailing king’s body while he healed the other side. In spite of chanting powerful mantras, the monks failed to heal the king, while Tiru Jnanasambandar completely healed the king including his hunched back.

With his spiritual power, the saint won the devotion and loyalty of the king. This marked the revival of Madurai Aadheenam by Tiru Jnanasambandar 1500 years ago.
